Haruko Takeyama

Scientific Advisor

Haruko Takeyama is a Scientific Advisor and a member of ARCHIMED’s North Asia Scientific Advisory Board. She is a Professor in the Department of Life Science and Medical Bioscience at Waseda University, School of Advanced Science and Engineering.  

She is a leading scientist in environmental and marine biotechnology, single-cell genomics, microfluidics, and advanced bio-measurement technologies. Her research integrates engineering, life science, and data-driven approaches to reveal the functions of microorganisms and biological systems at single-cell resolution, with applications spanning healthcare, environmental biotechnology, agriculture, and bioresource innovation. 

Professor Takeyama has held major academic and national leadership roles in Japan, including as a Member of the Science Council of Japan and as Program Manager for Japan’s Moonshot Research and Development Program. She has also contributed extensively to government committees, research funding programs, and industry-academia initiatives, supporting the translation of frontier bioscience into societal and industrial value.
